Call us today

Welcome to Pure Health Primary Care! We know that paying for healthcare in Ontario can be confusing—especially when you already have OHIP. That’s why we’re breaking down the most frequently asked questions about our clinic, our Nurse Practitioner-led services, and what your membership includes.

This post is here to give you clarity, peace of mind, and everything you need to make an informed decision about your care.

1. Why do I have to pay for a membership? Isn’t healthcare covered by OHIP?

This is the number one question we get—and it’s a great one.

OHIP covers many important medical services, but it does not cover care from Nurse Practitioners in private practice. Our Nurse Practitioner services fall outside the scope of OHIP because we operate independently from the hospital or government-run clinics.

That said, your membership fee helps cover the cost of your care—without long wait times or rushed appointments. You get longer, more personalized visits, same-day or next-day access, and truly holistic care with no strings attached.

Think of it as investing in timely, thorough, and relationship-based primary care.

2. What does the $400 membership fee include?

The annual $400 fee includes:

• 8 visits per year (in-person or virtual)

• Follow-up appointments are discounted at $80/visit if you exceed the 8

• Priority scheduling

• Direct access to your Nurse Practitioner via secure messaging or phone

• Ongoing management of chronic conditions, preventive care, and more

This model is ideal for families, individuals managing ongoing health concerns, or anyone who wants fast, personalized attention.

3. Can I pay per visit instead of becoming a member?

Yes! We offer pay-as-you-go options for those who don’t want to commit to a full membership:

• General Consultation: $100

• Follow-Up Visit: $80

• Minor illness virtual consultation: $50

• Prescription renewals (no visit required): $40/request

4. Are your services covered by insurance?

Many extended health insurance plans—such as Medavie Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life, Green Shield, ODSP, IFHP, and others—may cover services provided by Nurse Practitioners.

We recommend checking directly with your provider. In most cases, submitting your receipt will allow for partial or full reimbursement.

5. Do you provide prenatal and pediatric care?

Absolutely! We offer care across the lifespan, including:

• Prenatal care

• Newborn and pediatric checkups

• Chronic disease management

• Preventive screenings

• Immunizations (where applicable)

6. What procedures do you offer?

We also provide:

• IUD insertion/removal

• Nexplanon insertion/removal

• Skin tag and wart removal

• Special diet and ODSP form completions

• Travel medicine consultations

• Medical imaging requisitions (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs)

• Form completion (insurance, work, school, disability)

You get access to a full-scope Nurse Practitioner practice with no referrals needed to start.

7. Can I book virtually even if I don’t live in Long Sault?

Yes! Our virtual clinic is open to all Ontario residents. You can get diagnosed, treated, and followed up from anywhere in the province, including remote areas.

8. What makes Pure Health Primary Care different?

We’re not a walk-in clinic. We’re not a rushed doctor’s office. We’re a relationship-based, Nurse Practitioner-led clinic that offers:

• Same-day or next-day appointments

• Personalized, unrushed visits

• Support for the whole family

• Thorough health assessments and treatment plans

• No waiting weeks or months for care
